Good readers use different kinds of reading strategies for specific purposes. This question tests teachers’ ability to identify the reading strategy they could teach using the given resource, which in this case is a ticket. Since a ticket contains discrete bits of information about time, location, etc a reader wants to spend the least amount of time to get to the most relevant bit of information. There is no need for them to focus on the entire ticket. Hence, scanning is the appropriate reading strategy. This technique is used to answer very specific questions without bothering about the entirety of the text.

-Skimming is a reading technique used to quickly read through a piece to get a sense of what it is about. Hence, option A is wrong.

-Intensive reading allows readers to focus on short pieces to learn about specific details regarding information, language, and structure.

-Extensive reading, as the term suggests, is reading as much as possible in the target language. Good readers read extensively and they read different kinds of texts. Option C, therefore, is the most incorrect option.
